HORN Advanced Materials Bolsters Technical Sales Force

HORN kicks off the new year with three new account managers and the promotion of a top sales performer.

La Mirada, Calif. – Jan. 13, 2015 – HORN, one of North America’s premier distributors of specialty ingredients, chemicals and raw materials, today announced it bolstered its technical sales force by adding three new account managers to the HORN Advanced Materials business unit. Joe Camba, Brig Barber and Hector Rodriguez each bring to HORN a substantial number of years of diverse industry experience in manufacturing and sales to increase the company’s field presence. Camba and Barber joined HORN in December, while Rodriguez started with HORN in the new year.

“HORN’s latest announcement is reflective of the increasing opportunities we are seizing in our respective industries, preceded by the success we’ve helped earn for our valued partners, both principals and customers alike,” said Parry Foskett, vice president, HORN Advanced Materials. “Our brand presence is strong and we aim to grow our territories to make an even bigger impact on the industries we serve. We have high expectations in Joe, Brig and Hector’s capabilities in helping HORN accomplish an incredible year and to continue to maintain HORN as the benchmark in specialty chemical distribution.”

A polyurethane and composites expert, Camba is a chemical engineer with a diverse background that spans over 15 years in sales, formulation, technical service, process engineering, R&D and manufacturing. Joe comes to HORN from P.T. Hutchins as a technical sales representative where he maintained key accounts in elastomers, adhesives, sealants, coatings, and composites markets in Southern California. This, combined with his experience in chemical engineering makes him a perfect fit for HORN’s technical sales team. He began his career as a chemist at BASF Polyurethane Systems after earning his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach. Joe also obtained an MBA from Pepperdine University, is a three-time U.S. Patent holder and is working on earning his Six Sigma Black Belt certificate from California State University, Fullerton. An active industry member, Joe’s associations include Los Angeles Society for Coatings Technology (LASCT) and Thermoset Resin Formulators Association (TRFA).

Specializing in cast elastomers, Barber was an account manager for Chemtura Corporation prior to joining HORN. He oversaw the Western U.S. region and during his tenure, experienced 24 percent increase in territory revenue and drove commercialization of three new Chemtura products from R&D through customer adoption. Brig began his career at ChemPoint where he was responsible for $15 million annual sales, representing BASF, Momentive, Eastman and Chemtura. He received his educational background in biochemistry from Brigham Young University and holds a graduate degree from University of Kentucky.

Rodriguez joins HORN from Cabot Corporation as its former North America distribution manager. He brings to HORN more than 13 years of proven sales excellence, business development and management leadership within the specialty chemical industry, which includes inorganic and organic chemicals, pigments and additives, adhesives, oilfield chemicals, composites and plastics. He specializes in distribution, global account management, new business development and margin expansion of strategic focus within diverse markets. Rodriguez holds a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and is an active member of Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), Water Environment Federation (WEF) and Institute of Food Technologists (IFT).

“HORN is a first-in-class distribution company with a strong foundation that allows them to manage challenges and identify opportunities,” said Rodriguez. “As I sought to return to the specialty chemical industry, HORN was undoubtedly where I wanted to be. The synergy between the company’s reputable team and principal suppliers, combined with its corporate values enable its respective strategic business units to execute sustainable growth.”

Camba and Barber now provide added sales coverage in California. While Texas-based Rodriguez will offer tactical support in the Southwest.

In addition to adding three new sales representatives to the team, HORN Advanced Materials also promoted Jeff “JD” Davis to polyurethane industry manager to grow HORN’s polyurethane business while sustaining the company’s leadership in delivering best-in-class polyurethane chemistry, service and products.

Since joining HORN in 1996, Davis has been an outstanding representative of HORN both on the field and among colleagues. He was most recently promoted to vice president of Key Accounts and earned HORN’s highest sales achievement in 2014, which marks the second time he won the moniker of top salesperson in the past three years. Davis will continue to work on key accounts for HORN, but will spend most of his efforts managing HORN’s polyurethane business out of HORN headquarters.

“HORN has a very bright future and we are thrilled about the things we’ll accomplish together for our customers and principal partners,” said Foskett.
